Practice makes perfect, that is true for everything in life, makeup included. But some things are harder to practice than others.
Take liquid liner for example. It is an obvious black line on your face. So if the practice isn´t there already, but you still need to leave the house that day, you are in a difficult situation. You could of course hide for a few days and draw a line over and over again. But that would be kind of excessive don´t you think? It does work though. Let´s just say that I started wearing liquid liner in a time where I had no work commitments and obviously no social life to speak of.
Or you could turn to a product that makes applying liquid liner ridiculously easy. Because it is designed like a pen, one you grab and draw a line like you have done it a hundred times before. Just on paper, not on your eyes. Should work the same, no?
I grabbed the L´Oréal Super Liner Blackbuster recently and put it to the test.
Claims
The L´Oréal Super Liner Blackbuster makes application easy thanks to the thick tip and surprises with a remarkable black color. Lasts up to 24 hours.
My thoughts
I have to admit, the “easy thanks to the thick tip” should have made me have second thoughts. Usually a thick tip is not associated with easily drawing a thin and precise line. And for good reason.
While the pen is easy to grab and easy to navigate, no tucking on the eyelids, a thin and precise line is near to impossible to achieve. And I do have practice!
The application, however, is easy. As easy as it would be with one of my daughters pens. So if you don´t mind going a little bolder with your makeup (read: wear a thick line on your eyes), this pen will make drawing your liner a breeze.
As far as longevity goes, I have of course not worn it for 24 hours. But for the 14 hours I have it did not fade or crease. And the “remarkable” black? It is black black, not greyish, and with a semi matte finish that I do like a lot.
It is not (and doesn´t claim to be) water resistant. Smudging liner is usually not a problem for me, but I did find that this one had some minor difficulties on especially sweaty days or when Luke decided to break up with Lorelai (yes, still watching Gilmore Girls…)
Overall this is not a beginner friendly liner, unless you aim to look like Amy Whinehouse right from the start. But for the seasoned liquid liner lover opting for a bold look it is a valuable option. And one that at 6,95 € for 2,5 ml product (here) doesn´t break the bank.
