The beauty gods are jealous.
After stating numerous times that I rarely needed to moisturize my face at all, only in winter, and then not every day, things began to change.
I hinted it here already, and even though I was still in denial how much my skins needs had already changed, I decided to bring a moisturizer when packing for New Zealand.
And because sunscreen is important, and time, too, I decided to go for Alpha-H´s Daily Essential Moisturizer with an SPF of 50+.

Yes, I know I go on and on about not getting your SPF from your moisturizer, and I still believe that you will never get the protection written on the bottle, just because you use too little, but even a little SPF first thing in the morning is welcome when you spend the whole day outside, and I was lazy and yes, I burnt my nose.
Badly.
What Alpha-H claims:
Provides waterproof, broad-spectrum sun damage protection at SPF 50 without feeling heavy or looking chalky on your skin.
Suitable for all skin types, even combination/oily, it strikes the perfect balance between long-lasting hydration and a non-greasy, barely-there texture making it the perfect base for makeup.
Facts:
The product comes in a squeeze tube, different from the one I show in pictures (mine was part of a gift set) and contains 50 ml of product.

Favorable ingredients:
– Cera Alba (Bees Wax): Smoothing
– Hydroxyethylcellulose: Firming
– Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Antioxydant
– Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Moisturizing
Unfavorable Ingredients:
– Mineral Oil: I have talked about the disadvantages of mineral oil here.
– Parabenes: Disturbing hormonal balance in animal studies, no effect on humans proven. I don´t mind them, but I know one people do.
The used sunscreen is a chemical one, Octocrylene, so no risk for flash back or white cast. It does though come with a warning for an increased risk for contact dermatitis, so keep that in mind if your skin is sensitive.
Most reviews I read said it dried down to a semi-matte finish, but that didn’t happen with me.
My face looked pretty „glowy“ after application. Not greasy, but powder-worthy.
Does it live up to its claims?
Most of them.
It is non-greasy, after it sunk in it felt lightweight, there is no chalky overcast to your face after you used it and it sits well under makeup.
But I don’t think it is suitable for all skin types. At the end of our holiday, after two long flights and lots of air-condition, my skin was dry. No more combination, I am talking dry as in dry, flakey patches on my cheeks and neck, and tightness everywhere else.
So I can tell you first hand: If your skin is severely dry/dehydrated, this moisturizer isn’t going to do the job.
Will I rebuy?
No.
I like it, it is a decent product, but in the end it didn’t wow me.
And I don’t like using mineral oil based products, even though it isn’t that bad when it is the last layer put on my face, so I will look for an alternative.
