Sometimes you find something that is so good, you end up giving it away. Now I am usually pretty selfish when it comes to skincare products and keep the best close to my bathroom sink, but while I was filming my review on The Inkey List Oil and Water Double Cleanser and said something along the lines of: “… perfect for people with acne prone skin and people on a budget…” I realized I had to pass it on.

You see, I had been on the lookout for an affordable, gentle yet thorough cleanse suitable for young skin that just started prescription retinoids for acne and was suffering with severe irritation – and all the time it had been here right in front of me.

So yes, even though I loved the cleanser very much, I passed it on. But I will be repurchasing it soon, and today I wanted to tell you why.

What The Inkey List Oil and Water Double Cleanser claims

The INKEY List Oil & Water Double Cleanser is a 2 in 1 daily cleanser formulated with naturally derived Sea Buckthorn and Sweet Almond oil, to gently remove make-up and skins impurities. Added Panthenol works to help improve skins moisturise levels for a non-drying and thorough cleanse.

Some facts about The Inkey List Oil and Water Double Cleanser

Prize and size

One bottle contains 150 ml and is available for 11,99 € on the website here. The flip cap works well and despite the cleanser being very runny, it is easy to get the right amount.

Texture and smell

As the name Oil and Water gives away, this is a biphasic product that needs to be mixed by shaking the bottle.

I admit that after reading 16% Sweet Almond Oil on the packaging, I expected a rich cleanse, but quite on the contrary – it feels almost watery and leaves no film on the skin.

It has no noticeable scent and no added fragrance.

How to use the The Inkey List Oil and Water Double Cleanser

The Inkey List advises you to use a cotton pad or cloth to swipe the cleanser over your face, but I personally prefer using my fingers with any cleansers and am pleased to report this works just as good.

I have used it both morning and night and I would say the light and hydrating texture makes it suitable for both.

Even though it contains oil, it still struggles with waterproof makeup, so if you are wearing a full face, you will probably need a separate makeup remover. But for my usual daytime look or my no base, just SPF routine this one works perfectly fine.

The Inkey List is very generous in that it takes the guesswork out of reading the ingredient list by providing several percentages of things used. That way I can tell you that Sweet Almond Oil makes up the majority of the oil base with 16%, but that the Vitamin and Betacaroten rich Sea Buckthorn Oil is also present at 2%.

Panthenol, known for soothing and repairing the skin, comes in a concentration of 1% while the added humectants, minerals and Gluconolactone are present in below 1%.

An honorable mention goes to the addition of Avena Strigosa Seed Extract, which is said to be skin soothing even in low concentrations.
