I get that it might be quite confusing scrolling through my reviews right now: pixi Rose Tonic Review, pixi Rose Glow Mist Review, pixi Glow Tonic, pixi Glow Mist, pixi Rose Oil… There is a lot of pixi going on, and even more pixi Rose.

Pixi Rose Tonic

But what can I say, I have been bathing my skin in rose (scented) products for a while now and I have no intention to stop. And that means something, coming from a woman that used to dislike rose scented beauty products.

What has changed? Nothing really. I still dislike the classic rose scent often associated with beauty, but I do appreciate the more gentle, refined version in the pixi Rose Collection.

To make it easier to keep up with all the similar sounding stuff though I introduced a new review category: How does it compare to… Where I compare (ha!) the product reviewed to similar ones.

So without further ado, let´s dive into the pixi Rose Tonic Review.

What pixi Rose Tonic claims

Naturally soothing and rich in nutrients, this tonic helps to tone, balance pH, minimize redness and calm skin. Rehydrates, replenishes and refreshes.

The pixi Rose Tonic isn’t actually pink, as you can see here

Facts

Prize and size

One bottle contains 100 ml and retails for 11,99 € here. Although it looks rose colored, the actual liquid is clear, the bottle is what is pink.

Texture and smell

Watery, with a pleasant (and subtle) rose scent.

Application and effects

While it is suitable for both mornings and night, I tend to use this one in the mornings, patted on to the skin like I would an essence and followed up by a humectant rich serum. I have used it as extra layer in the evenings, when my skin was feeling a little rough, but usually reach for richer serums and oils then.

Another great way to use the pixi Rose Tonic is after exfoliating or when your skin is slightly irritated due to your acne treatment or due to inflammation.

Pixi Rose Tonic ingredients

Favorable ingredients
  • Rosa Damascena Flower Water:Soothing, hydrating, scent

  • Sodium PCA:Humectant, naturally occurring in skin (drop with age)
  • Rose Extract: Soothing, hydrating, scent
  • Rosa Canina Extract: Hydrating, antioxidant
  • Camelia Sinensis Leaf:green tea extract, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory

Hydration in a bottle, filled with a few extra soothing ingredients. The only surprise was the addition of Montmorillonite, a form of clay, that I can´t quite explain. As it is only in a low percentage though I wouldn´t assume it has a noticeable effect.

How does it compare to…

Pixi Glow Tonic (Review)

Despite the brand and the bottle design, these two don´t have much in common. Pixi Glow Tonic is a gentle glycolic acid exfoliant that contains Aloe Vera to lessen the possible irritation caused by the acid. Pixi Rose Tonic is a true hydrating toner as opposed to an exfoliating toner, with an emphasis on soothing. Both could be used together.

Pixi Rose Glow Mist (Review)

The pixi Rose Glow Mist is richer than the pixi Rose Tonic due to the addition of different oils. It also contains citrus essential oils that might irritate sensitive skin. The pixi Rose Tonic contains plant extracts, which makes it more watery and lightweight. Both could be combined.

THE INKEY LIST Hyaluronic Acid (Review)

My current favorite hydration booster, THE INKEY LIST Hyaluronic Acid has more emphasis on humectants and is more efficient in hydration.  I like to combine both in the mornings for plump and hydrated skin.

Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

I don´t suffer from redness or easily irritated skin, but after overdoing it with Vitamin C the pixi Rose Tonic helped calm my skin down and ease the tingle.

Would I repurchase?

Yes.

This is one of these products that always find a place in your routine, no matter the season or the state of your skin, a great basic skincare workhorse.

Who do I recommend it to?

Everyone.

Unless you are allergic to any of the ingredients, the pixi Rose Tonic will fit into your routine, no matter if you need the extra hydration boost against dryness or the soothing effect after exfoliating.
